With an area of 9251 sq. km, Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, situated in its northeastern basis at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa. Cyprus enjoys perhaps the best type of Mediterranean climate with about 340 warm and sunny days a year.
The official languages are Greek and Turkish but English is widely spoken and is the language mostly used in business.
Cyprus is a member of the EU since the 1st of May 2004. On the 1st of January 2008 Cyprus adopted the Euro as its national currency. The strategic location, the strong pro-business attitude, the multi-lingual and highly skilled human capital (more university graduates per capita than anywhere else in Europe), the state-of-art telecommunications infrastructure and the 2003 tax reform have made the island one of the most progressive and efficient business locations in Europe.
